Does the increase of meeting spaces in the company necessarily promote a better allocation of power? Based on the study of a factory “taken over” by its employees in Argentina, this article aims to show that the democratization of the workplace depends on sources of legitimacy, especially from the workshop, which can compete with the usual practices of direct democracy. This article sheds light on a new form of bureaucracy based on a regime where disciplinary values and behaviors, such as attendance, punctuality, and productivity prevail.
