Participation in Strategic Decisions in the Company: Influence or Power of Salaried Members of the Board of Directors

“Special Report”: Being Part of the Working World

English

As any company project related to the democratization does, the institutionalization of employee representation with voting rights of the board of directors aims at a rebalancing of power. The analysis of worker directors’ representations seen through the concept of participation in decision-making as developed in the sociology of industrial relations reveals a different picture. Rather than power, these actors are limited to the ability to have influence in a situation of imperfect deliberation given the weight of another actor, the shareholder.
