Citizen Participation and Gender in the Urban Project

By Yves Raibaud
English

This paper gives an account of a series of public meetings on the problems of urban mobilities. Participation by women is weak; their voice is not heard. This invisibility of the women is not measured. This paper proposes a method for observing the inequalities between women and men in public debate. It shows that the absence of women has consequences on the new ideologies that are building the town of tomorrow. The “sustainable city” does not solve inequalities between women and men in the city.
