Opponents of the development of the Bou Regreg valley project, or of its expropriation with which they were threatened, have resorted to a variety of means to put pressure on decision makers. Many of these means may seem insignificant in democratic societies. However, they have only been used relatively recently in Morocco, be it sit-ins or petitions relating to arguments concerning several fields: economic, social, legal, and particularly political. Their proliferation, if not to say systematization, has basically become possible through significant changes affecting the Moroccan political system.
