Do women voters of Marine Le Pen vote for a woman? The conditions for the reception of a proposal of gendered representation

By Christèle Lagier
English

This article analyzes the conditions favorable to the expression of a proposal of gendered representation by Marine Le Pen in politics and the media. It proposes to objectify the conditions for the reception of this proposal by FN/RN voters. It underlines how gender seems to be less decisive from this point of view than class proximity. When female identifications make sense, they do so in relation to male figures and first and foremost through the perception of a political field that remains a male domain. Far from being put forward as a reason for voting, when the female identity is called upon it is to denounce the threatening figure of the immigrant man who is aligned with the party's programmatic fundamentals.
